Although I am not following a specific training program for an event at the moment, I try to keep to three different types of runs a week: a long run, a medium distance (should really be a tempo) run and a interval run. It keeps things interesting.
I live in Hampstead, North London, which is quite hilly. So when I need to fit in a quick run or run intervals there are several hilly stretches to run. After a gentle five minute warm up leg loosening run, I ran 5 x 250m with a slow downhill jog in between. Looking at my stats and Google Earth, I think the gradient is 1: 10, ie 25 metres elevation over 250 metres.
I do love interval running, I feel sharper and my legs feel more alive!
Happy running!
